HOW CAN WE HELP?

  • What is a DPF clean?

A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clean refers to the process of cleaning or regenerating a DPF in a diesel-powered vehicle. The DPF is designed to trap and remove soot and particulate matter from the exhaust gases to reduce emissions. Over time, these particles can build up in the filter, affecting its performance. A DPF flush and replacement in the hands of an experienced professional will return the engine to good health.

  • What are the benefits of a DPF clean ?

Where do we start?  Some of the benefits are immediately noticeable, and others kick in over time. A professional DPF clean will:

    • Improve Engine Performance, restoring engine power, torque, and overall performance.
    • Increased Fuel Efficiency, reducing fuel consumption, which of course saves you money.
    • Reduce Emissions, reducing environmental impact.
    • Extended the DPF Life: regular cleaning extends the lifespan of the DPF, delaying replacement costs.
    • Prevent Engine Damage. We have seen our fair share of damaged engines that could have been prevented by upping the cleaning routine.
    • Reduce Maintenance Costs. This is because regular DPF cleaning reduces overall maintenance costs by preventing related issues.
    • Keep the vehicle warranty up to date. In some cases, this maintenance is required to keep the warranty valid.
    • Enhance Vehicle Reliability. A clean DPF ensures your vehicle runs smoothly, reducing breakdown risks.
    • Cost-Effective: Finally, cleaning the DPF is often more cost-effective than replacing it.
  • What are the telltale signs a DPF clean may be due?

If you notice any of the following signs, it is worth checking out before more damage is done.

Warning Light: The DPF warning light on your dashboard illuminates, indicating that the filter is becoming blocked. That’s the easy one! Sometimes the Engine Management Lights will come on first.

Reduced Engine Performance: Noticeable loss of power or reduced acceleration.

Increased Fuel Consumption: Your vehicle starts using more fuel than usual. Tracking consumption is a good habit to get into.

Unusual Smells or black smoke: Of course, odours and black smoke from the exhaust indicate something's up: this may be that the filter is not functioning correctly,

Limp Mode: The vehicle enters limp mode, reducing the engine power to protect it from damage.

Difficulty Starting: Problems starting the vehicle or the engine stalling frequently.

  • Can I do this myself at home?

State of the art diagnostic equipment is a large part of the offering. It is impossible to achieve this in a home workshop. Perth DPF Cleaning Solutions has invested in the highest standard of hardware and software available. That’s why people all over WA travel to us.

  • How often do I need a DPF clean?

This depends on your type of vehicle and how you use it. your driving contditions are the main deciding factor in when you need to get a clean. As a guide, 5,000 kms or 6 months, whichever comes first.  This can depend on the make and model. Of course, if the DPF warning light is on, don’t delay.

  • Do my habits affect the DPF regeneration?

Short trips and low-speed driving can lead to incomplete regeneration of the DPF. Try to include longer drives at freeway speeds to allow the DPF to reach the temperatures needed for effective regeneration. In addition, use high-quality diesel fuel that reduces the amount of soot and contaminants produced. Some fuel additives can potentially clog or damage the DPF. Always use products recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer. And again, ask us if unsure.
